George Hale
George Hale has been on the radio and television in the Bangor market for over 50 years. His reliability and dedication has catapulted him into a premiere role in broadcast management and on air positions in Maine. His style and delivery continues to attract listeners in Eastern and Central Maine as co-host of the popular “George Hale Ric Tyler Show.”
While best known as a sports announcer, Hale in recent years has branched out as a commentator on many social issues facing the Pine Tree State. Hale has also found time to serve the state as chairman of The Gambling Control Board and chairman of The Maine Harness Race Commission.
He is a member of the Maine Broadcasting Hall of Fame, Sports Legends Hall of Fame and recently voted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame. Other awards include the ECAC Media Award, the New England Sportswriters Award and Sportscaster of the Year for the state. Hale is the only non-graduate of the University of Maine to win the coveted Black Bear Award.
